How would a person find out how long the statute of limitations is in their state? Is reporting on a persons credit report goverened under the laws of the state they live in or the state where the debt is serviced?

I have filed a few complaints against various creditors or Collections agencies with the FTC. Every time I do, I have been told by the FTC person that they do not interviene in individal complaints but mearly collect information. Yet, I see all over theses boards recommendations to go to the FTC for resolution or enforcement. How do you get the FTC to do their job instead of acting mearly as a data base??

I recently was a victim of a scam involving a "loan". The people that I sent the money to have my driver's license number and bank info. I've already closed my bank account and filed a complaint, but what can I do about my driver's license and social security numbers? I never gave them my SS#, but I heard they can get it using my driver's license. I just want to make sure I'm as protected as possible considering how stupid I was.

I received a strange phone call he other day, It came from an 800 number. when I answered i got a recording asking if I was Me. If yes press 1, Like a moron, I pressed one (usually I won't answer calls from ANY number I don't know). It said transferring to a representative, then disconnected after about 20 seconds. I tried several times to call the 800 number back, and it didn't go anywhere, just silence for about 20 seconds, or would ring once, then disconnect. I dont know who this is, but its a rather underhanded manner fo doing things....
