About a year ago when trying to by a car I found out (at the dealership) that I had a collection on my credit. I did not know what to do but to pay inmediately without asking questions...hoping it would fix the problem. This collection was from a cell phone account which I closed after paying in full. Yet a cancelation fee was added to my account but I was never notified about this neither by the creditor nor the collection agency.

I was receiving calls from Ellis Crosby but I heard they went out of business. Today I received a call from a United Legal Corporation - same area code and number. Anyone know who this is? I still should be able to get verification from them in writing correct?

Five years ago I had a mobile home repossessed. I was told by the people I bought it from that I would be able to sell it for what I owe. I tried for a year to sell it after I moved out with no luck. Didn't help that the creditor wanted 18% to finance for the buyer. Well after five years, someone bought the debt and is now trying to collect 28,000. They sold a 43k home for 14k. What is the SOL for Indiana on this and is there any other defense?

3 Years ago after having our second child and my wife being out of work, we ran into money problems. I ran into one of those bad Dept counceling places that told me NOT to pay the bills and that they would handle everything.... Now I am not stupid, I was in a corner and let someone fool me :( , trust me that won't happen again. Anyway Since then I have my credit scores back up to 670 or so... and everything gets paid on time.

I started out with 11 payday loans this morning and now I have 10. This is such a miracle. Today was doomsday for me. I had decided that I would call all of the companies that I had loans with and try to make payment arrangements. All of my loans are current none have defaulted but I did close out my checking account so that they could no longer take out payments. Well anyway...the one company that I had the smallest amount which is $260, I decided to call first. I was actually gonna pay them off in full since I owed such a small amount.
