Is it possible to continue using a credit card when enrolled in a settlement plan?

My friend Ileana wants to file bankruptcy. We know that bankruptcy reduces credit score but don't know when. Does it happen after the discharge?

My niece just signed for a registered letter for me from King County Superior Court. The folks at Sutttell & Hammer are filing a Wage Garnishment against me for a bill that I have no knowledge of. I think they are attempting to collect an account I had like 10 years ago. I set up an automatic withdrawal from my checking account to satisfy the bill, the draws being $220.00 each month. After roughly 3-4 months the company quit taking the money out of my account. I tried calling them but the number I had was disconnected and I never received a response from their email about the account.

I have defaulted on a plain green loan in Ohio. A collector is now handling the debt (National Check Resolution) and I set up a payment plan to repay the debt. Are plain green loans illegal in Ohio? My payments are $236 for the next two years but the loan was for $1,000. Is there anything I can do? They threatened to have me served and was harassing an old boss of mine from a previous job. Are they allowed to do that? They told her I was involved in a fraud case but I haven’t ignored any of their phone calls. Anything helps!

What makes more sense in Chapter 7 - Keeping or giving the vehicle to get rid of credit card debt?

Is it mandatory to pay an annual credit card fee? What are the options to waive it off?

Can the settlement companies negotiate to lower the debt amount more? Or is that if a settlement company approach the creditors, they reduce the debt amount more?

Is cutting up credit cards really a good option? What if I need to use the credit cards? I have read in many articles that people advise to cut the credit cards.

First, I just wanted to thank all of you for this forum! I am so glad that I found it! :) I originally signed up with a Debt Settlement Company. I have paid 1 payment toward my plan, but then started to research and found this forum. When I read everything here, i realized I could completely get rid of these illegal payday loans myself! Why should this company get 20% when I can just do it! So today, I cancelled my settlement plan. I'm hoping they refund that 1 payment.
