I got a debt settlement offer from law office of m.n.kay on behalf of FDS Bank/Macys
before I send them my money I want to make sure this is legit, and im not gonna send a bunch of money to some people and not have my debt paid off.
has anyone dealt with law offices of mitchell n. kay in the past?
thank you! :D

I would send them a debt validation letter before sending them any money rw!
Also in the dv letter send a cease and desist to only communicate thru USPS. Since u called them more than likely they got ur number on caller id.
Just a suggestion,

For two days, I've received an automated phone call telling me to call back regarding a debt: 866-355-9587

I called with the control number the automated beast told me and had a heated discussion with some guy with an Indian accent. All I wanted from him was an explanation of who Mitchell N. Kay is and what they do. He only persisted in asking ME a bunch of personal questions without explaining who they are!

Giving him no information (not even the control number) he said I should Google them and here I am! Glad I found that no one thinks they are legit and sees they are a scam.

I told them to cease & desist with the harrassing phone calls since I have no relationship with them. Besides, I have no unpaid debts with anyone past or present - so I know I am clear and they are a fraud.

I don't think he liked me asking if he's actually sitting in Nigeria.

What a fraud!

I just received a recorded message from this law office and I called it back after I read the postings here. There was a guy that answered the phone and asked me personal info and for me to take advantage of a real good deal. He then went on to say I could make a payment right now over the phone and I asked him if he sent the info in the mail and he said he did on 12-8-07. I told him I would call him back when I receive the letter in the mail validating this debt. He then went on to say I should take care of this debt & y I don't want to pay it. I stayed calm & said I know u r doing ur job but I would like the letter. He told me his manager want to talk to me I said thats great. My signal fade but the manager called me back with a 213 area code, thats L.A.,Ca not NY, whats up wit that. Anyways, I told the manager Im requesting the letter for validation & I don't mind paying my debt but I keep all documents in the event there is a problem. He hung up & have not called me back. I do owe the money but I don't want to be scammed. Does anyone have any advice on what to do also, how can they freeze accts? I thought if it goes to court, the jugde may order u to pay but it ur accts or not froze else how would u pay?

Yeah, don't they need a court order to have an account frozen???

I got a call today from this same "law Firm" They said they were trying to collect a phone bill from Sprint that I owed. They said the phone bill was a land based phone and the bill was generated in ohio. I HAVE NEVER LIVED IN OHIO! He then told me we could settle on this for half the price owed.... I told him i'm not settling on something thats not Mine. He then said I need to send him a dispute form I said I would and he said thank you and hung up.... no address for the form or anything. Shady? I think so.

My son had a terrible accident that left me in financial ruin. I am just getting on my feet somewhat, but had to let some bills go. Unfortunately, this supposed Law office had the debt. They are rude and harrassing. I received 15 calls in one week. After talking to them one night, they called me back that same night and then again the next morning. I talked to them that morning but they continued to call all day. They call all day and they have repeatedly called my place of employment which I told them not to do. I am just now discovering there is a Class Action Suit against them for Unfair Collection Practices. I have also been threatened by these people. I suggest anyone that has received a call or letter from them - be aware of the Lawsuit and be very leary of these people.

I was sent a letter from Mitchell N. Kay P.C. 7 penn plaza Ny NY and I have never heard of them before. I have sent at least 150.00 in payment regarding a 5 year old account that was delq and the letter stated that they would garnish my account for funds if I did not submit them, so I did. If the information I am reading is true with other people I will be highly Pissed. Money does not grow on trees....
