Hi there. I'm here on behalf of my parents, since neither of them are very computer literate. My parents had a debt back in '04 that was being collected on by COMPUCREDIT, that was settled for a couple thousand dollars. A family member paid the debt, and we all considered it done. My parents never received a receipt or transcript of the payment, so we don't have proof but both parties clearly remember the event. MCM recently started contacting both my parents and I trying to collect what was left over from the settlement.

I have had issues with overdrafts and bounced checks in the past. I recently moved to the same town as my fiancee, and I went into a bank to open our joint checking account. The banking center employee informed me that she could not open a new account for me, due to information in ChexSystems. I am still waiting on the copy of my report. I previously had an account with this bank a few years ago, I believe it was in 2006 or 2007. I did have many overdrafts with this account.

I had 6 payday loans. I can no longer pay them and have decided to just declare bankruptcy. I hate doing it, but feel this is my only way out. I also have numerous loans and several credit cards. I can't pay them all. I HAD set up payment arrangements with the payday loans to begin tomorrow. I have closed my bank account so that they won't go through. Question...should I inform the companies that I have declared bankruptcy and closed my account? Or just let the payments be returned as a closed bank account and then tell them when they contact me?

After filing complaints on these 3 businesses with the MO Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau, here is where I am at so far: All 3 have acknowledged receipt of my cease and desist letters but all claim Tribal Immunity. Ameriloan called me for a couple of days but have since stopped calling (I am just waiting for the phone to ring). They responded to the BBB with the standard To Whom It May Concern: We recognize this complaint as a response to information circulating the Internet. This information is full of mis-leading and inaccurate statements.

I just got a debit from my check card from this company that says it is out of Singapore. The number that showed up on my bank account with it 1-866-300-9620 is constantly giving a busy signal so I'm sure its bogus. The amount was debited on 8/31/11 but the bank says this was done 5/11/11. Has anyone run into this company before? Will the bank take this off? I've already gotten my debit card changed.

I live in NC and had 5 internet payday loans. Because payday lending is illegal in NC, I closed my bank account and opened a new one and sent out all of the letters recommended on this site to each of my lenders. The only 1 of them to contact me is Ameriloan. They have called me twice and called my reference. Should I be worried that I haven't heard from them? Any advice on when or how to follow up?

Many a times, the debt collectors bully debtors to collect/make money. What are the ways in which you can protect yourself from being bullied by them?

I live in Indiana and am having the same problem with 500FastCash, Beacon and Yellowdale.com...what should i do i only borrowed 200 from each at seperate times a while ago and still payiong on them yellowdale and beacon have been in my account since mid july...HELP PLEASE!
