I have a question for anyone who can answer. Does the 7yr 180 day period of a delinquent account begin from the Charge Off date or from the day the Collection Company posts the debt on your Credit Report?

I have a question for anyone out there, I recieved a call from a guy named Peter from (800) 405-6992 ext 306, He stated that he was an attorney out of Erie County, (which this number is listed out of NY) and stated that he had a summons for me for 2 payday loans that I know I still owe on and he said that he needs to settle these accounts before they summons me and a judgement is put on me. Has anyone ever dealt with this guy and is it a scam, Please let me know I am thinking about calling a lawyer today. He was supposed to email me proof of the debt and he never did.

Hi, I'm 24 years old and Im thinking about going bankrupt! I'm $42000 in debt and have a baby on the way. I know if the creditor give me a chance I can somehow make it work, as I was young and made very silly mistakes before hand. I rang one agencie and ask them to help me go into debt agreement but given my situation they said its better if I just file bankrupt. I really need good advice and what will happened if I do go bankrupt will I loose my job I have no idea what it is all about! Help!

I got a Warrant in debt in the mail with a court date in two days, can I call the attorney and pay it in full without going to court?

I have several payday loans and, thanks to this website, I'm currently getting out from under them. However, $300.00 showed up in my checking account a couple of months ago and the company listed itself as GFG Serv. My bank was able to give me a phone number, but it belongs to an Internet pdl company that has confirmed they did not deposit the money. I've googled GFG services and can't find anything applicable. Now this place is debiting $135 out of my account. Anyone know who they are? Thanks for all help.

I turned my account over to a lawyer's company in July 2010. I thought it was going to be a good thing, but now i'm not so sure. I make a monthly payment & they are supposed to be working on Debt settlements, but I have trouble getting in touch with them. They have settled a couple of my accounts, but before my 18 months is up, I don't think they will all be settled.

I live in Ohio and fell victim to the internet pdl trap as well as the exponential increase of robbing peter to pay paul so I now have a lot of pdl out there. After reading these forums (which are so awesome and upbuilding btw, it's nice to know others have fallen victim to the same trap as I) I am closing out my bank account tomorrow and opening a new one. I have already been in contact with my credit union and explained the situation and they are being very cooperative and helpful.

I was 5 months behind on my mortgage. I just found out that my home was auctioned back to the bank on June 3rd. In Missouri the right of redemption only comes into play if you give advanced notice, so that doesn't help me at all. I spoke to an attorney who advised me to make sure the notices went into a county paper properly, which they did. The certified "notice of sale" was never delivered to me, I remember the rural postal carrier leaving a "sign here for delivery" slip in my box in early May, which I signed, but no certified letter was delivered.
