Can debt collectors leave the amount of the debt on a general business answering machine where everyone takes the messages?

I recieved a collection letter(with 30 day notice on bottom) in January from Midland Funding via Fulton, Friedman and Gullace. I didn't recognize the debt, so I sent a debt validation letter to them. In March, I got letters stating I was being sued, but had not been served. I again sent a debt validation notice to both Fulton and Midland. Today I recieved a notice of service attached to my door. I have never recieved any reply to my validation letters. The complaint is exactly what I expected, having read up on the forum.

Last year I settled credit card debt I had with Chase Bank. I took a look at my credit report and it is being reported as: Payment After Charge Off/Collection. The account never went to a collection agency. I settled the debt with Chase directly. I don't know how to resolve this. Any suggestions?

I borrowed $300 from Payday Loan Yes and have paid back $315. I sent them a letter revoking the authorization and wage assignment. They still took another $105 from my account yesterday. I even asked my bank to place a stop payment and they still took the money. I don't know what to do.

What is exactly is the purpose of a debt validation letter. You know you created a debt yourself. There's the paper trail to prove it. Why do you need your creditor to validate it. This never made any sense to me.

Can you just pay the original creditor instead of the collection agency?
