Soap, I need some advice. I owe about 30 k in credit cards about 18k with Chase one for 10 under my name and the other for 8k under my wifes name. We are past due about 90 days on both accounts. I have recently sold my house. Got out of a big hole there! I started trying to settle with Chase for about 35% on my 10k. They said no and countered with 67%( two weeks ago)I called back today and offered them 40 % and they came back at 55%. Am I going about this the right way? What is the time frame I should be looking at to try another offer?

I applied for a loan and was told I would be approved in anticipation I transferred money from my debit card to my checking I found out 2 days later that the loan was denied I now owe the bank 7,000 dollars but the money cane through all at once I just assumed I got the loan I was so thrilled now the bank wants their money I have sent them the loan information. Hello, I have recently sent one of my creditors a letter asking for verifications of the debt, they finally responded with a letter asking me to verify my identity to them, asking for DL, SS#, Address, and a mail reciept to prove my address. Of course I am not going to send them this but does this show that they cannot verify the debt? If so, do you have any idea on how my next letter should sound? Or do you have any generic template which I can use? Also do they have any legal rights to be even ask me to verify myself?

:shock:I just received a court notice from the Law Offices of Harold Scherr signed by Harold Scherr. They are trying to collect over $3000 of a Capital One Credit card debt. The problem: We never had a Capital ONE credit card and the name of the Defendant's name is the same as my wife's name (MARIA), but not her last name and certainly not her. How stupid is that? So, I am so dumb that I buy a credit card debt from "X" bank and the credit card's holder name is Harold E. Johnson then I can go to a court and ask them to bother Mr. Harold Scherr because he has the same name.
