I found out today that Asset Acceptance has issued a bank garnishment for all of our bank accounts for a credit card debt; they are all frozen. There was a notice left by the sheriff's office. All of our money was in those accounts and now we don't have access to any money at all- not for food or gas, etc. My husband is the sole income provider for our family (including two daughters). They won't make payment arrangements with me; they want the full amount now. Is this legal? How can we survive without access to any money at all??

I had an account with Fifth Third Bank that was being used to pay several PDL. I closed th account and opened a new checking account at Fifth Third. On payday when PDL lenders attempted to debit old account they received nothing and I was not charged any NSF fees as some people say they have been charged by Fifth Third. I just wanted to give my results here for anyone who may have an acount with Fifth Third.

In March of 2011, I rec'd a summary judgement against from a CA hired by Capital One. Is there any way that I can send a new settlement offer to the law firm even if I have all ready agreed to pay a certain amount. I agreed on the amount when I was unemployed. And I just recently gained employment.

We thought 13 was the way to go (aout 60 k in CC debt), but right at the confirm time, the trustee is wanting to reduce wifes 401k contributions, AND, grab the 401k loan she has (will be paid off in year) and add it into our debts. Unreasonable, I think. If we back out, how nasty will all the creditors get if we try to deal with them on our own, or should we? They've been sitting out there for many months. Should I use a settlement company instead? I apreciate any advise.

Hello, My husband had a judgement passed against him in 2001 for a deliquent credit card. I went to the courthouse and got a copy of the judgement after I had heard from both First National Credit Bureau and then Credigy. I set up a a two installment payment plan after they told me that they would settle for an amoutn about 2000 more then the original debt (4600). I made the first payment and have been waiting for the 2nd to be withdrawn (it was supposed to be 3/24).... anyway I called and the bureau says it is closed..

Zwicker has called looking for a friend of mine and left messages that violate his privacy, (i.e., "we are looking for___ if you are not him, then do not listen to this message as we are trying to collect on a debt"). We did not call them back, yet they called our house again yesterday. They should be calling his family, not his friends. It seems very unethical. Should I report them to the FTC or AG for the State of MA?

Can one get PIF and Refund at the same time if amount is overpaid?

My account with TWC (Time Warner Cable) went in the hole about seven months ago. I received my last bill from them in September for $1376.73 -- $422.61 balance, $953.58 in unreturned equipment. I checked my credit report with TransUnion a few days ago and Time Warner placed me with "CBA" for $597 reported to my CR on 2/08/2011. :rolleyes: Uh.... 1. Why $597? Fine it's a helluva lot better than $1K+ 2. Why did I not receive a letter from CBA notifying me of this debt and their intent to place me with collections. I have always received notification of my 3 debts (4 total).
