How long before a company can sue. It has only been two weeks since i defaulted on my loans and i already have companies telling me they are going to sue me. For the ones that are illegal do i tell them i know they are illegal on the phone when they call Do i tell them over the phone that i will not pay anymore than the principle. What if they keep calling me after i pay off the principle. I have two legit CSO companies that i must pay off first, so it will be a while before i can pay the others off. OMG I just received a call from a Mr. Abrahams, he supposeably is calling representing Law offices of Mark Nichter.....213-478-0041!!! Who the heck is this calling me now????? Told me I have til 5pm to call back or face pending legal action. Anyone else know what this is? I called back, blocked my number and was told to call beack at another time. After my wife's death in 2010 I negotiated pay-offs on her credit cart debt, each over $600. The cards were in her name only and her estate was insovent. I received a 1099-C for 2010 indicating the borrower (deceased) was liable for repayment. Do I need to report the amounts on the 1099-c as income?
