Can collection agencies use a fake phone number to call you? I had a collection agency call with a number from my area code. They have no office in this state. The agency calling was Enhanced Recovery. What type of debts do Enhanced Recovery try to collect? Are they allowed to called cell phones, and call before sending a letter in the mail?

I was sent some pre-formed letter by email. I told them to send me the original document that I supposedly signed for some payday loan yes. They told me I had to pay $800 on this bill by 3pm today. I emailed them back and they called again told me I needed to pay this amount. The call came from 301-637-6765. Strange the letter came from Fort Worth, TX but this call came from a Maryland exchange. I have called the attorney associated with this letter as well as the local authorities to inform them they have another group of scammers.

Has anyone heard of or dealt with ERS? They are calling stating they are a process server for the state of Texas and that if I do not contact them I will be served at my place of employment. I contacted them at 855-596-2702 and they indicated they were collecting on a payday loan from Riverside (also known as Evergreen) from Feb 2013. I did not take this payday loan, and the bank acct they claim it was made to was closed in Feb 2013.

I had several payday loans over 2 years ago; each of whom I paid either the principle amount or more than the principle to pay them off. After finding this site, I was able to gain insight on the illegal payday loan lending practices in my state of NJ, and discontinued the direct withdrawals from my bank account every 2 weeks.

Hi, I am trying to recover from PDL hell, and low and behold me and about 3 of my family members are getting calls from someone by the name of Alexis Mills @ 844-261-1170 & 844-270-0399 threatening that they are coming to my job and home to serve papers for a court case # DA17257.. she says she is w/Fulton County, which is where I live in GA, and tells me that if I have questions call the plaint-ifs office .. this started Fri.. no papers.. called again today..

I have a Spot Loan that is past due, I tried to make payment arrangements on it but missed one of those payments. Original loan was $800, I had paid it down to $630 (principal, of course). I just got a call from Dalton Management collection agency saying that they own the debt now and I owe $1800!!! I contacted Spot Loan because I thought my payment arrangement was still in place, and it was just to pay the original $800. I was told it has been sold, but he gave me the phone number and name of the agency they sold it to, and that is different than the agency that called me.

I lived in Florida when I applied for the loan. I now live in Georgia. How can I get rid of this extremely high loan?

Hi everyone- I have 2 loans with Speedycash, and after my payments this week, I am realizing how stupid I was and have gotten myself in over my head in taking out 2 loans. I can not afford to keep making these CAB payments every 2 weeks and was wondering if a payday loan consolidation is the best way to go? Or will they work with me in smaller payments? I'm embarrassed that I let myself do this-and just need to know what to do to keep them from drafting my account every two weeks.
