can you sue the original creditor if he is aware that the collection agency is harassing you. if so, how can I find a law about that.

Ok, so my debt settlement journey is almost complete. Of the 5 credit card accounts I settled, only CHASE sued me and sent me a summons by mail. I finally settled with them at 40% just recently. Here is my dilemma: I also applied for a job at JP Morgan Chase. They got back to me with interest and I have a interview with them in 2 weeks. It is a high paying job over $100K and its perfect for me. Am i cooked? I assume they will pull my credit and see I settled with them. Also my score is probably in the 500's.

I just ran my credit report and see that their are two outstanding balances that have been put in for collection (a total of $500) for emergency room visits that my health insurer did not pay for. Gold Key Credit is handling the collection efforts. The debts are 4 years old. I called Gold Key and spoke with a rep, he offered to settle the matter @ 50%. Great deal but he stated that this negative incident will remain on my credit report for 7 years (I am in NY). I asked if he could remove it and he said he could not.

I have an older outstanding debt that began in 2006 with Verizon Wireless. I had made good by beginning to pay them (original account balance was $800), but they wrote the debt off and sent the balance to a collection agency. Remaining balance is $400 and PINNACLE CREDIT SERVICES is the one who got it. I got a letter (and many phone calls this past week on my cell) from ENHANCED RECOVERY CORPORATION that says they were given the "authorization" from Pinnacle to offer a settlement of half - so pay $200 instead of $400.

Nco is trying to collect for Amex. I will be able to settle at the end of Aug. when a family member loans me money. I called them to start the settlement processs and inform them of my intentions. They said they could settle for 25% now, but not next month. I told them I will have the money next month, not now and they said the offer wont be as good next month. Only 50%. Also, Nco is collecting for Citi. Same thing. Next months offer wont be as good, they are telling me. Is this just a scare/pressure tactic to get me to commit now?

I had started a thread today in the collections forum about discussing debt validation. I actually had made the original post and then came back and replied and put in some more information that I wanted to discuss. Then I found some additional information that I felt counteracted some of the other information and when I came to post it - my whole thread had disappeared. Can anybody see it in the collections forum?
