I am so upset. I received a summons today from a cc I had back in 2008. I called the attorney on the summons. The balance is about $2500. She told me they would settle for $2100 and close the case. I told her I would call her back tomorrow to let her know what I decide to do. At first she told me I could do a six month payment plan for $450 a month! I only work 16 hours a week! There is no way I can afford the $450 a month, and she said if I did the payment plan there would still be a judgement against me. what does that mean? thanks

I am trying to negotiate a lower monthly payment with my credit card company. The balance is $12,000. Wells Fargo will do nothing for me. I told them that I cannot pay the full monthly payment. I have not ever been late and have no negative marks on my credit report. I explained to the "boss" that I will keep making payments but I need a lower monthly payment. They will not lower the intest rate, they will not negotiate any change at all. If the credit card company will not work with me and I cannot make the full monthly payment what do I do next?

Hi All, I was wondering if I could get some help. I'm currently being sued by a collection agency/law firm. The debt is for 2,500 (original credit card amount was $1500). I have 20 days to enter a written appearance. I really don't feel like going through the whole process of court so do you think its too late to contact the agency and try to settle? BTW I live in PA if that helps with state law information.

I stopped paying on my credit cards in May. They are Chase, Capital One, First National Bank, Keybank, Bank of America and Discover. I will be able to save money each month to settle one at a time. I asked in another post how to decide which card to negotiate first. After reading on this forum I am now VERY worried that one of them will decide to sue and I won't know it until it is too late. I see on here that some people can be months and months behind and the account gets turned over to a collection company and they can still settle.
