Help!!

15 years 9 months ago
I currently have 3 storefront payday loans in missouri. Advance America for $178.50 I renewed several times from the original amount of I believe $400.00, Loan N Go for $354.00 I have renewed several times on this one as well. Finally Speedy Cash for $117.00 and I have not renewed this one at all. Like everyone else I fell into the horrible payday loan trap and just trying to keep up with paying interest plus $25 are causing me to get behind on other bills. I just want to know what is the best way to handle getting them paid off?

Proving Fraud

We have received a claim by a debt collection company Check Solutions of America for an online payday loan that we supposedly made through Sandpoint Capital LLC. Sandpoint is claiming that we took out a loan it was deposited into my account and then I closed the account before they could collect their payment back. I NEVER took out a payday loan through them or ever! Also I have only had one checking account in my entire life and and there hasn't been any of the activity they are claiming on it.

Maybe charge off isn't bad???

15 years 9 months ago
First - let me say what a wonderful community this is - seems like many caring people with great advice!!! I have read in many posts that ideally you DO NOT want accounts to be charged off - for a variety of reasons that makes sense... However, I was just wondering if it MAY BE beneficial to get charged off? - It seems that if the original creditor sells your account, they cannot then send you a 1099 for tax. Then the purchaser of the debt is starting with a much lower amount (they paid for) and, hence, cannot send you a 1099 for the total. Is this accurate?

Dept Settlement Co's.

Hello. So far Debt Impact seems to have the highest rating by the BBB dept settlement co's. They receive a B rating. They also charge on the gross amount rather than performance based. What other companies receive good ratings from the BBB? Trying to avoid a horror story like so man I have come across. Thank you.

Deposit Only

I have currently 2 payday loans out , they are coming into my account every month. If I were to put a Deposit Only on my account , How long would that have to last for or do the PDL companies just keep coming under differenet names and keep trying? Is it possible to do with Bank Of America? I have tryed to speak to both PDL companies and am not getting anywhere with them.

If illegal and asked to pay back lest than owed by a certain deadline, what should I do. Pay it back or make other arrangements.

Phoenix Debt Management

I have emailed them five time, told them numerous times on the phone and have sent two letters to cease and desisit and asking for debt validation. Yet, they continue and they call me at work, threatening to contact my payroll and HR dept. I know they cannot garnish wages without court order, but I want the calls to stop. In my most recent letter, I informed them that I have reported them to PA AG, PA Dept of Banking and ICA International Ethics committee. What else can I do?

Hi everyone, I racked up ~37k in credit card debt back in early 2009, and another 5k in fees (approximate numbers). I made about 2 payments on the debt in march and april of 2009 - the amounts were ~$700 each.

dealing with collection agency's

Do I HAVE to deal with the collection agency or can I send them a Cease and Desist letter stating that I will only deal with the original creditor? Have the laws changed on this? Can anyone tell me this?
