I have enrolled into a debt management program. A creditor has recently sent a letter to me stating that the account will be reported as closed for future purchases. I'm confused. Will it have a negative impact on my credit report? Is there anything which I can ask the creditor to update on my credit report? Something that will have less negative impact on my credit score. Hello In 2012 I took out a loan with American Web Loan and was only able to pay part if it back, I closed my account and sent them notice I will pay them back on my terms. I followed the instructions from this site. I never heard back from them. Today my boss received a call from Accurate trying to track me down by one of their trackers to serve me papers unless I call them back at (877) 679-9204. I am in Illinois, should I contact them to work out a payment plan? I am worried about getting served or called here at my place of employment. Thanks for all your help

What can I do with collection agencies that say they bought my loan from original debtor but is passed the statute of limitations? One was a car loan that they repossessed and sold but said I still owed $6000 at the time. I contacted the company by certified mail with what I could do at the time never heard back from them. That was in 2007.
