I got this call from Free Legal Credit Solutions (aka Primestar Recovery Group) who said that they have 3 of my accounts in their office. They are PDLs from JHS, Namakan, and Pack Management. I had already closed my bank account - and he gave me some spiel about there being bad checks and I needed to settle the account. He called my work and had me paged, my cell, and most recently my mother (who does not live with me or have anything to do with my debts). I have emailed them and told them I would only be willing to pay the principal owed for all 3 ($810.00). They wanted me to pay $2400.

what does everyone think of freedom financial network? i have heard mixed reviews (and are they also known by another name?)

I've been working with Oak View Law for over a year now. Back in August an offer was made to settle, but it was beyond my means. Even though it was for significantly less than the original balance, I couldn't swing it, although I wish I could. Since then the debt was transferred a law firm and I've just been served. I'm not sure what to do next, but figure it better be soon. The balance is under three thousand and I'm in MA. Suggestions would be appreciated. I'm partially employed and collecting unemployment. I have virtually no assets, not even a car.

I owe Citibank Master Card45K a lot of it is fees since my original credit limit was 35. I am paying 225 a month to United Recover System after not paying my bill. I asked them to settle for 12k in 3 payments but they refused. Should I stop paying the 225 a month? I will never be able to pay 45k and they refused to take less than 25. I settled with BoA directly and Cap One with a ca already.

I disputed two items on my credit report and I found out today they have both been removed. Can anyone tell me how much difference this will make in my credit score? Also, I have a number of items that were under collection that have been paid off. It states they are paid and the balanice is "0" but they are still showing. Is there any way to get these removed?

Does anyone have experience with them about negotiating a settlement? What % did they agree to? Was it hard to get them to do? I want to make them an offer of a one time cash settlement? are they likely to do it?

So I'm about 3-4 months behind on a few different cards and Friday i spoke with the Chase rep about a deal. They asked about current income (which is down big and why I'm late) and current expenses. She put me on hold and came back with a program that "just came out" last night. I pay 60% of my current balance over 5 years; ZERO intrest or fees. Can pay more or pay off early if I want to and you can miss 1 payment over that time. However, even after getting a manger on the phone, they could not give this to me in writing until the first payment was processed.

Mornin' y'all - I got a PM this morning from another mod, asking how to split selected posts off from a thread. In the interest of spreading the knowledge around (and because I'm too lazy to type it more than once), here's how to go about it. Is pretty simple, really. First, select the posts you want to split off from that thread. You manage that by checking the checkbox in the top/right corner of each post you want to split off. Selected posts will turn yellow. Then drop down to the bottom of the last page of the thread.
