Strange thing about my Cap One account. It is 3 months behind, and over limit, and the collection agency that Cap One hired is not calling me at home. Most times I've talked with them, I've had to initiate communication. What's up with that? Are they just biding their time until they decide to sue?

How long do you have to file DV letter? Is it 30 days from when they first contacr you in writing?

Know as Steven Middleton Law Firm... I enrolled 40k in a settlement program with them back in June my payment was 412 mth at 4 years. Three months into the program they didn't pull my money from my account . I called her several times and never got a return call. Huge Red Flag if they miss pulling payments three mths into it whats going to happen two years into it. I did finally get ahold of her and canceled the program.

I have a judgement against me for an old cc debit from chase that this law office sued me for earlier this year. The total amount of the judgement was 1100 and I've been paying $110 a month. My balance as of a few weeks ago was $590 and when I went online today to check and see if they got my payment, it said my balance was $1,275!! Can they do this?? I have yet to call them but this doesn't seem right to me.

I want to file chapter 7 , my question i haven't been able to pay on my cc in 3-4 months will this be a problem?

In February of 2008 I was renting a condo and there was a fire that started in my unit when I wasn't home. My landlord called me and I rushed home to find the kitchen and roof had been destroyed and I lost my dog. I did not have renters insurance at the time. Later I talked with my landlord's insurance fire investigator and we went through the whole apartment and it turned out two other apartments were affected but not as bad as mine. I saw all of their insurance companies at their apartments.

I got a response from BBB and company is willing to give me a paid in full however no refund and I overpaid $160..do I insist on refund also or take the PIF and run..Thanks!

When filing a FDCPA violation suit against a CA? I am now officially OVER dealing with Academy Collection for a credit card bill that I told them I was willing to pay, if they settled for 75% of the balance...... They have not heeded the C&D letter I sent them after my 7, yes, 7, DV letters to them failed to produce any information (that's $42 by the way that THEY owe me now in certified mail!) They continue to call and harass me and my husband, who was never even on my account.

Hello, I am about to close my bank account due to (2) illegal internet PDL's I have out right now; (I live in CA) I keep getting dinged for (2) $90 finance charges every two weeks. I have overpaid on the principle balance on one of my PDL's by $60, and I owe the other PDl company $30. I will be sending in a paid in full request to the PDL I overpaid on, and will send the $30 to the PDL company that I owe it to. I've been going through a lot of posts on this forum and noticed people talking about wage garnishments.

Can anyone tell me if these are illegal in ny?
