Wage Garnishment Question.....

16 years 9 months ago
I recently was notified of a wage garnishment on June 16th from an old credit card from 15 years ago with the amount of $3508.01, I was offered a settlement amount of $3,084.74, however I could not pay it at that time. On June 30th they garnished my wages 25%. On July 2nd they put a hold on my checking account. I was able to settle that same day with help from a family member and was told I would get a refund of the wages that were previously garnished. They had the money back in my checking account the next day with no problem.

State of CT internet payday loans legal or not?

16 years 9 months ago
Hello, Can someone help me? I have loans out with Loanshop, Discount advances and a really old one from Midland finance. Here is my problem. Our checking account was closed by the bank because of unauthorized withdrawls from ach's debit's I had no idea who they were. I am being overwhelmed by collectors calling and telling me I am going to be sued and they will not work with me for payments. I have no problem paying back what I borrowed. I can't do it on there terms and I am not sure if any of them were the ones making the withdrawls.

Debt Settlement Offer

16 years 9 months ago
I had a dispute with my credit card company and refused to pay until they resolved the issue. Suddenly I got a letter from West Asset Management stating that they were a debt collector and were trying to collect my debt. I called them and they offered to settle for $3500 of the $4800 they said I owed. I made them a counter-offer saying that I would pay them in full $2700 to resolve the issue. They accepted and faxed me a letter to that effect. I sent them the payment and verified that it was delivered by the date on my settlement offer.

Confirmation of payment

16 years 9 months ago
I was told by a very nasty representative that I would receive a confirmation fax on a settlement matter and have still to receive the fax. He was given an electronic check at his belligerant demand and I did so just to be rid of him. If I do not receive the fax by morning, I will stop payment on this check. If this is the way your company treats people who are trying to set a debt matter straight, then by all means take me to court. Joan

Debt Settlement Roadblocks WHAT NEXT?

16 years 9 months ago
I've managed to get correspondence from a couple of creditors with limited success. A CA (an old WAMU CC) has offered to take 75% of the debt and I plan to counteroffer at 40-50%. Is that too high? It would bring it down to a reasonable $1000 payoff. My biggest headache now is a CITI (Sears MC) at $5K. I can't pay it, they didn't respond to a settlement letter and now I have a letter threatening a lawsuit in 30 days. Do I respond to this? Wait it out? Send another settlement offer? I'm not sure what to offer or how to respond (if at all). Anyone had success negotiating with CITI?
