Closing Old/Opening New

16 years 9 months ago
Night all! Has anyone had any trouble recently with illegal PDL'S getting into their new acct? I saw some older posts from 2007 but am wondering if this is still a problem. I am getting ready to open up a new acct at a totally different bank and I want to be prepared and have all my bases covered. Thanks! Kooky

Midland Funding LLC and Eaton Group

My situation is this. About two 1/2 years ago I was laid off from job where I made pretty good money. I had a few credit cards and always paid more than the minimum each month. I decided to go back to school in the evenings and was unable to find a job that really paid anything so I was not able to keep up with the payments. I sent a letter to one of the card holders explaining my situation but never heard back from them.....until just recently. I was served with a summons that I was being sued for around $2800. I knew that it was my doing and I want to pay it off.

Help With Credit Scores

16 years 9 months ago
I am desperately trying to clean up this credit mess I have made. My scores are TU 506 EQ 547 EXP 545 (FAKO). Ridiculous, right? Anyway, I have a bankruptcy (6 years old), 2 judgments (paid after the fact), and quite a few CO's. The judgments were originally charge offs and bought by some collection agency. The agencies are the ones who obtained the judgments. Since I am trying to repair my credit, this is what I would like to know. Is there anyway to have the collection agencies removed from my credit report even if they got judgments?

HELP - Little Loan Shoppe

16 years 9 months ago
Since Little Loan Shoppe has filed for bankruptcy, does anyone know how this affects people that have taken out loans with them? I recently received an e-mail from BBB, months after they closed the claim as unresolved, that LLS is still claiming they provided an installment loan and that I still owe them. Any thoughts/idea about how I should respond? Thanks.

Beware of This No.

16 years 9 months ago
I don't know about anyone else, but I guess I speak for most people when I say, that I can't stand phone calls when the caller ID says..."Out of Area", "Private", or "Uknown". Most of us dealing with unscrupulous debt collectors know what that is like. Most of the time, they won't leave messages...well now telemarketers also do the same thing. This afternoon, I recieved a phone call on my cell phone and the caller ID stated, "Uknown." Naturally..., I HATE these kinds of phone calls...especially when they leave no messages.

Hypothetical Question

16 years 9 months ago
Lets say a collection agency starts harrassing you for a debt you don't owe and breaks many of the rules that they are supposed to abide by. Then uhhh My friend, gets an attorney and sues these clowns, the attorney recovers $1500 for my "friend" and his or her fees and court costs. Does my "friend" get a 1099 later on? Is a law suit considered income? Just curious if anyone knows.

I am going to file chapter 7 and have items in pawn

Does anyone know what happens to my items in the pawn shop if I file bankruptcy? The redemption period is not over. Can I just go and get them without paying? They are personal items that would be considered exempt property.

CA collecting on Citi credit card

16 years 9 months ago
I have a CA collecting on citi credit card that I did not pay back in 2006. I am negotiating with them and should be able to pay them by next week. Now the question is this debt was sold to them this year by the previous CA and the pervious CA is the one reporting this in collection under my credit report. So now should I negotiate with this CA as “Pay to delete” or since they are not reporting this in collection under my credit report I should not ask for” pay to delete” and when I pay them next week.

CRA threatening 1099C

16 years 9 months ago
I defaulted on an MBNA acctount 8 years ago (last payment was 4/13/01 for $50) because my job went away, and my hubby was not employed either. We were almost 60 then, and well into our 60's now ... my only income is my SS. CRA left a message for me and I called them back, mainly because they had been looking for me by calling my ex-husband, which was an interesting experience! CRA says that because of fees, etc. the amount due is now $18,000, and they had gotten preliminary paperwork to file to send me a 1099C. Can they do this on a debt that is over 8 years old?
