I have been disabled for the past 5+ years, and unable to work due to my health issues. Last year I stopped paying my credit card bills. I owe about 20k in total to various companies. I do not own a house, vehicle, or anything of much value. My only source of income is Public Aid/SSI/Food Stamps. I live with a roommate and pay rent and living expenses, which pretty much leaves me with nothing extra. It appears now that I'm about to be sued by one of my credit card companies. In fact, it is one of the companies to whom I owe the least amount of money.

Is it possible to avoid court after a summons is issued

has anyone ever heard of this company? i liv in oh, the return adress on the envelope says texas but the address on the letter says westerville oh. they are the collector on an account i had with us bank. the account was closed with an overdrawn balance of $1900 due to hundreds of dollars in fees charged to the accoount when i got in a lot of trouble with payday loans.

This law firm sent me a letter in december, for a debt from a credit card through orchard bank (hsbc), i then sent them through regular mail a request for validation of the debt, and that was also in december and i still have not heard anything or recieved anything back. I want to know if i should be concerned? i called and left them a message stating that i sent a letter a few months ago and have not recieved anything and that once i do i will be happy to make payment arrangements because i do want to get this taken care of...but no one has called me back yet.

I had a payday loan with a storefront company in ohio called always payday. the loan was for $575, when it defaulted i was also given a $24 charge for the check being returned for a total of $599, i paid $100 on it, then another $100 leaving my balance at $399. They then sent my information to a law office near where i live called dana and pariser. i received a letter form them on 9/22/2008, i then sent a request for validation letter to them through regular mail on 10/02/2008. it is now march 23, 2009 and i have still not recieved or heard anything from them.

I recieved a summons on friday march 20 from this law office on behalf of capital one. the amount listed in the summons says that owe $596 and some change. How do i "answer' the summons, i don't understand what it is that i am supposed to say? I live in ohio. this has never happened to me before. I don't know if i should try to call attorneys office and see if they will let me pay the $596 and be done with it or what. I'm really nervous about having to go to court but i don't know what to do?

Hi Everyone. Well I had a loan with Pay Day loan yes. I made payments totaling 210.00 for a 350.00 loan. I know I owe them $140.00 for the principal. I got harassed by their First National securities who cussed me out and all that good stuff. I reported it to the Texas Attorney General. Then now I get a call from someone who says he works for the Law Firm of Goldstein & Rath and they threatened to send a letter to my employer and I let them know that in texas they can not garnish wages. I told him I have been disputing with this company and trying to settle for the 140.00 I owe.

I have entered into a perfect storm. Right now I am $25,000 . I've got IRS problems. My funds are running out due to lack of income stream. I don't own anything but my car (Volvo). I fear I'm going to be homeless shortly and I don't know what to do. How do I share my situation with my creditors. Better yet anyone with any ideals other than suicide.

Is rapid cash management legal in indiana? I have paid them over 500 dollars for a 200 dollar loan...please help me!
