Between my husband and I, we have 6 online payday loans. (Louisiana)Here they are: Cash Central: borrowed 500, pd. 300, remaining balance 500 *the balance is due in full payment, but I am pretty sure I can get a EPP with them. Cashnetusa: borrowed 300, pd. 125, remaining balance 270 *paying 75.00 each time towards the principal, so at least its going down. Paydaymax: borrowed 450, pd. 299.25 remaining bal. 450 *am now paying 50.00 toward principal each time. United Loans: borrowed 300, pd. 0, remaining bal. 390 Ameriloan: borrowed 350, pd. 105, remaining bal.

I am currently going through a divorce and ended up having to take all of the debt due to certain circumstances......Its a long story but anyway I have a lot of debt that I need to get consolidated so I can keep my head above the water. If anyone here knows of a good company it would be greatly appreciated so I can work on getting this stuff paid off and down....

Who to turn to for correct info?

I have received a copy of my promissory note for my loan from both the CA and from FSA. It is the very same one that I have on file at home. A few ?'s: 1. The interest rate on the note is NOT the interest that DOE has me paying - how do I look into this? Thru the CA (I hope not!) The Prom. Note, the NSLD, the FSA letter and the CA all have different amaounts of interest due - some say I have a variable, some say I have a fixed. The Prom. Note does not say anything about fixed or variable. 2.

How to begin the settlement conversation with a CA?

17 years 3 months ago
OK, now I have to start negotiating with a collection agency. Large account, over $10K, and it is one of several that total over $100K. This is the first one that has gone to a CA but the rest will follow, they are a bit staggered but all are past due. So - how do you start the negotiation process with a CA if your goal is to settle and you do not want it to advance to the point of being sued? Do you just lay all the cards on the table right away, ask for a settlement? Tell them you are borrowing or whatever to get some money, but there will not be enough to pay all creditors?

If you are receiving calls from "unknown numbers" via caller id and..

17 years 3 months ago
it is debt collector.....if you phone has the set up option, block all "anonymous" or "unknown number" calls. That way they must disable it on their end in order to call you and if they hang up on you, you can google their phone number by what shows up on the caller id pretty simply. If they want to find you that bad and they have your phone number, they must have your address. Let them put something in writing and send it to you via United States Postal Service. That way what you have is in writing and so is your response for proof of any debt.

Anyone know who Citibank uses for their ca?

17 years 3 months ago
Hello all; I have a huge debt with Citibank, and unfortunately I will not be able to save enough funds to settle with them before they most likely send my account to an outside collection agency. Anyone out there know who Citibank often uses? Any details on your situation with Citibank are most appreciated. Thanks so much!! :D

CA vs. OC

17 years 3 months ago
I have been referred to two CA's for over $10,000 each. I sent a DV (return receipt of course). I will be coming into a few lump sums of money not nearly enough to pay 100% of both. Should I try to settle for a percentage with the CA near the end of the month of course or should I try back with the OC. who will give me the biggest break? What is a good percentage to offer? 35%? From what I have read here the CA's will still profit from a low ball offer? On the other hand if I can get a similar deal with the OC I have more room to negotitate what they report to the credit bureaus?

Hiring attorney out of question, AG and FTC of no use

17 years 3 months ago
It is getting ridiculous to file complaints with the FTC and the State Attorney General's Office when debt collectors violate FDCPA. Even with recordings, mail, emails, etc as proof. You get a "form" card from the AG office and nothing comes of it and calls continue. FTC doesn't care, they do NOTHING. When you are unemployed, you cannot afford an attorney so to continue to advise people to "hire an attorney".......who is suppose to pay for that when the debt is NOT OURS and we have proven it over and over to each and every bottom scum feeding collection agency?
