Hello all! I looked at my report a frew months ago and found an old collection from Qwest. The report was new, but the data was old (I have not had a Qwest account in six years). I was surprised, but had a family emergency soon after that wiped this from my mind so I did not deal with it immediately. I looked at my report again recently, and I now have that collection, plus the same collection now reported by Centurylink, who bought out Qwest a while ago. The first collection agency did not sell this debt to another....I recently recieved a letter from them too.

I started debt settlement process on several credit cards. I signed up for a web service to help organize my correspondence and contacts. They have an option for me to offer to settle with a creditor. I read that it's best to let the creditor bring up the settlement. What is the better course of action or inaction? I have only had conversations with one creditor. They want me to make payments or get into a program to bring the acct current. I said I can't do that and I have to work out a plan will other creditors too. I also said I'm trying to avoid bankruptcy.

Just received a strange email from Sure Advance that I am highly suspicious of. Need your thoughts. Background: On 9/11/12 I took out a $400 loan from Sure Advance. Paid back $1131.40, i.e., paid in full by their terms by December. In January, I took out a second loan for $700. At that point, I discovered this forum. Closed my bank account. Sent them the form letter, stating that I was paid in full, as I had borrowed $1100 and paid $1131. They contacted me with an offer to reduce the interest on the second loan.

So i received this email from Bayside loans today after me sending them 2 emails regarding the legality here in NC. I am overpaid on my principle by $556. How should I respond. I found this website back in Oct 2012 and I put in motion the steps I needed to get out of the payday loop. I had 7 internet payday loans and I was drowing. The first thing I did was close my account and send out letters revoking ACH and any wage garnishment. I had one company send me a PIF letter. I have heard from two via phone about 3 times and I have two that send me emails once a month and I have not gotten anything from the other two.

Recently I got a collection letter from the Law offices of Michael J Scott. I see on here he's pretty vicious and I'm not sure what to do. I took out a massive private college loan years ago, and was a victim of a violent crime and ended up disabled with a diagnosis of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and currently recieve SSI. I'm also not quite sure if this qualifies as one of those predatory loan type things. It was a $30,000 loan (in hindsight not very smart... looking back I also don't get how in the world they even gave me that much...

OK... one more to go. I successfully followed OhioGal's advice and sent ACH revocation letters and notified 3 payday lenders that theyt are illegal, I paid them the principal (in some cases too much) so we are good. (Ameriloan/USFastCash - which are ted together, and Mobiloans) The only holdout is Mobiloans from whom I borrowed $800, which has been repaid, but they still email me monthly statements and replied on 12/31/12 with some sort of blahblahblah sovereign Indian nation BS. I tried to post the email but cannot find it! Should I resend the email I sent 12/31/2012 and see what happens?

I took out a loan with Plain Green for $1000.00. I made four payments of 125.95 which totals 503.72. My bank account was restricted due to fraudulent charges. I called plain green on the day my payment was due to make the payment with my visa card since my account is restricted. I explained the situation to the rep and she told me they would not refund the $30.00 return fee on my account. I told the lady that I have every intention on paying the loan back, but will not pay the $30.00 because it was not my fault.

I have several CC's ( 3 visas, 2 store cards and gas card most of them close to max. all payments have been on time for several years. MY FICO score is between 650 and 700 . SHould I use a deb consolidation loan to cut my payments down to get them paid off and still keep the cards
