I'm considering debt settlement but with no way of knowing If I can get the "Settled" and "Collections" off my account, loan consolidation is the option right now. Anybody at all know of anyone good to use that doesn't have any bad history? Need experienced people only going through this to give me the names of some agencies/companies. thanks

I called one of my collection companies, Nelson & Watson. They have a BOA (FIA Card Services) credit card with a balance of $12,831. I offered them $4,000 because that is all I have available to settle. So of lowball I guess but I figured what the heck. But Nelson & Watson were sort of jerks transferring me to a couple people, giving me the guilt trip, talking about FIA is waiting for them to make a recommendation to sue me or not, going through specific lines on my credit report, etc.

Can I consolidate my loans with direct loans if I have already consolidated them once and paid for awhile then defaulted? Thanks

I'm about to start dancing with my unsecured creditors, five credit cards totaling $85k. I've got a decent story behind my financial hardship, but am still employeed and earn a "decent" salary. Despite the salary, still can't pay the creditors though... But worried that they'll fight me on settlement if they know what I make. Wondering if they do any kind of employment or income verfication? Not planning to mislead them regarding my income, but also not planning to discuss it either. Will this affect my ability to settle?

I received in the mail a Summons from the county where I have not lived for 8 years (Ohio). It's a debt collection on a cc paid to another collection agency back then. Palisades is the group who filed. The summons dates a month ago. I only got it because it's a small town and eventually made its way to a relative who mailed it to me. This is the first I have heard from anyone about this debt all this time. I now have no record of paying it off to the other agency. What should I do? I know everyone says "answer" but I really can't travel back home (disabled spouse).

Has any one worked with them for monitoring credit score? I just signed up and got my score and my credit report for 7 days free.

I was taken to court with LVNV back in June. Case was dismissed without prejudice. Ok so then I get a letter saying LVNV sold my account to northland group. Well now I get a letter in the mail from allied interstate for LVNV.

I know some people say to look for one and there are millions of credit repair agencies out there, but i'm wondering how long would it take and how much would it take to remove collections and settled accounts from my reports? After I paid my cards from debt settled I would hire an attorney who specializes in this field but can it actually be done by one or by one of those agencies? I don't want to get scammed but will certainly pay for it if it works. Anybody know anyone in the houston area?

I disputed a few charge-offs with Experian online and within hours they show them as verified. I also received a letter from them through the mail today saying that the accounts were verified and now updated. What's my next step? They are old charge off accounts at least 4 yrs old and it wouldn't do me any good paying them off. Should I send DV's to the CA's before I sent Experian a method of verification letter? Also these accounts are listed both by the OC and CA to which they are assigned? Can they do that?
