A couple months ago I recieved a letter from Mann Bracken stating that they were garnishing my taxes this upcoming season. Then last week they froze my wife's and my joint personal savings account so they can take the money that's in there. I did NOT recieve a notice from them prior to this, and I'm pretty certain that what they are doing is not right. I tried calling them twice, but they are too busy to talk to me, and want me to leave a message. I live in MI and I need to know what legal action I can take. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a total debt of $50,000 with only a part-time job at the moment and my unemployment benefits set to end in May 2009. My credit card creditors don't want to work with me on lowering my interests (2 @ 28.99% interest) or set up a debt management plan unless I have a full-time job and can guarantee a monthly payment. Due to a bad choice of paying Amex's Collections $40,000 by liquidating my IRA last year to avoid a lawsuit, I now also owe a total of $20,000 (already added to the total and with interest and penalties accruing daily) to the IRS and Franchise Tax Board in taxes.
