On my credit report I have a credit card charge off that saids it will be removed 12/2009. In Jan 2009 can I ask for it to be removed and will they comply?

I have around $20,000 on my 3 credit cards and I am stuck! I don't know what to do or how to pay it off. I am in way over my head and it's depressing me big time. HELP!!
can someone give me pointers on how to word a letter to a debt attorney about paying a cc? The problem I am having is waiting for a cash settlement on an annuity to pay these people but I am sure they are wanting money now. I simply am stone broke now and cannot pay anything until we get this money. I have already answered the civil summons and after they have validated the debt, have asked for more time to review the account. I do not want to incriminate my self as owing this money yet I want them to back off until we receive teh funds.
Which is the best way to go? This is so scary to be in so much debt. Hubby and I work really hard but have had lots of medical bills for the past several years so that has made it hard to stay caught up. Sometimes debt settlement sounds scary - like the creditors can still call you or threaten to sue. I also want to make sure that I get a debt settlement company that is good. Any advice?

I have gotten in over my head & closed my checking account but now need to determine what I legally owe so I can send the cease & desist letters to my PDLs.
Can anyone tell me where to find the debt collection laws for the state of Tennessee? A collecter called me and told me that I would have to change my locks because they would bust in my door and take my things (and my car, which is financed with another company and current) and put them all up for auction. I know that they cannot do this. What should I do?

Some of these collectors are saying I opened accounts as early as last year or that my last payments were last year, these are incorrect as all of these are past 5 years. Reason for asking is that my attorney is adding the creditors to the matrix for the bankruptcy petition and I have to go over it with him. Will this cause a problem because the dates on my credit report are inaccurate?
I have been in a dmp for one year now and am finding that my budget is being pushed to its limits. I am wondering if it is possible, once in a DMP, to renegotiate the minimum payments? I would like to stay in the program, I just need to get a bit of breathing room and reduce some stress!
