If my son has 4 loans though Sallie Mae/Bank of America, can he just go to the Direct Loan site & apply for consolidation through them? Or can you only consolidate with the original loan creditor? Can you also consolidate Parent Plus loans the same way? thanks!!

Ok, so I have been getting these calls from a company named Riddle and Assoc. telling me i am going to be sued for computer from back in 1999 june. So after dealing without credit for so long i thought i could do this so i agreed to pay them today and gave them info and everything i would have checked the net first but i was at work, i am on a differed sentence for poss. so i cant have any trouble the debt is 3471.86 when it started it was 1507.00. so what now chapter7 and change all my info again? please help me im so stupid

My mother owed the IRS about $10,000. We arranged a payment plan last month, but did not make the required payment. She is currently on Arizona state disability -- do you know if they can take away her disability, or any part of it? If that is her only source of income -- what can they do to her? She could make the payments, but giving away $200/month for years on end when battling medical payments is a horrid burden. Thank you for your help. Obsequious

Can you still receive financial aid with defaulted student loans? And if I am in financial need, and want to return to school, will I be able to find a combination of federal and private loans to pay for going back to school? My credit is horrible, many $1000s in charged-off credit cards, and $24,000 in defaulted student loans that I have not yet arranged any payment for. Thank you again for your insight. Defiant

My husband loaned our friend's wife $200.00 to retain an attorney for her son's girlfriend (confusing right). Her father had passed away and she has a wicked step-mother who was giving his stuff to her own biological daughter one day after he died and told his own daughter (who happens to be an only child) she wasn't allowed into his house. Her mother died several years ago. I know giant mess. Anyway he loaned her the money to retain an attorney because the father didn't have a will, has lots of rental properties and lots of money in the bank.

once a bill is sent to collections can the company that sent it to collections continue to add a late charge

I got a call from Redline Recovery Services for a collection in my ex-husband's name. I've been divorced for 15 years. Do I have a right to find out what it's for and how do I get my name removed from anything to do with his debts. Thank You!

I have 10 payday loans out. Wait, it gets worse. I never told my husband, the person who is supposed to be my partner, I have been paying on some of them for 2 yrs. I guess the real reason why I never told my husband is because of his temper and illness. I have 3 small children and just wanted to avoid a fight. I seriously thought I could get out of them and I came close several times, but something always comes up. I went to the bank today and placed 2 types of stop payments on them, one against the company and one for the check itself.

We had our creditor meeting today. As expected, no creditors actually showed up. We sat with our attorney and the trustee for about two minutes and answered a few quick questions and were done! :) However, now that my husband has lost his job, I kind of wish that we had never filed. With two of our creditors threatening lawsuits, we felt that we couldn't risk his wages being garnished, so that's what pushed us to do it. Now that there are no wages to garnish, it's probably not too likely that anyone would have gone ahead with lawsuits. :?
