Hi there, I needed some help with my situation. Back in 2007/2008 I had a credit card and I had delinquent payments. I was not able to pay them off for a few years and it was sent to collections. I didn't hear from collections in a while but in 2011, a collection agency (Northland Group) sent me a letter stating they would be willing to drop the amount owed (including charges) which was about 2,900 dollars down to about half if I paid in 3 installments or in full.

I live in Washington State and have 3 loans. On with Plain Green, one with Cash Call (sold from Western Sky), and one with Ameriloan. I have repaid the principal and then some on all these loans. What are my rights in Washington state?

I had enrolled in a debt settlement program and had been told that the program would accept payday loan debt as long as the creditor sent the account into collections. I had a law firm assigned to me and a lawyer. I found out today that this was incorrect and that the original representative for the debt settlement program gave out false information. Apparently in Ohio, the law states that payday loans cannot be put under debt settlement programs. I am now stuck in a situation that I need advice on how to repay.

Over the past year, due to some extreme and unexpected life circumstances, I became trapped in a payday loan nightmare. I dealt with two companies mostly, but six separate companies since last November. I found out through this site that they are all illegal in Connecticut, where I live. I followed the step-by-step instructions I found here re:closing my account, writing and emailing the letters I saw here, and following up with copies of these to BBB, FTC, etc.

I acquired two payday loans to help during a bad time and now I can't get them to stop taking money from my account. I borrowed 500.00 from Sure Advance on 7-31-12 and they've taken 859.00 this past 4-months from my account and are telling me today that I still owe 488.00. I got scared and called the other place. I got 1000.00 from It's My Pay Day through National Opportunities Unlimited on 7-11-12 and they've already taken 1820.00 from my account and state I still owe 800.00. I think I got desperate to catch up bills and got scammed. What do I do at this point?

Does anyone have a physical address for my cash now? I've had some loans with them that I have paid an exorbitant of interest on previous loans so I want the loan I have out now to be marked paid in full. I live in PA and from what I've read they are illegal here. PA is also a state where wages can not be garnished for consumer debt. Any thoughts appreciated.

I received the same letter for an Premier card I had a few years back. If one was to accept their offer and card, how would it affect your credit and the old debt? Does anyone know if it would it show as a account that you're currently paying on??

I followed all the steps in soaplady and then waffles topic to cease and desist. But now there calling my work saying that I can be thrown in a cell if I don't pay please help me :( can I be thrown in jail . I told one guy I needed time until tomorrow he told me if I don't pay by 1 PM central time tomorrow he is coming to my work with handcuffs what do i do I don't want to be thrown in jail

I've been referred to a company called Debt Pay 1 to help me resolve my PDLs. I see that on their site, they reference being a member of this (DCC) website. Has anyone worked with these guys and if yes, how was your experience? II am not behind on my PDLs but I am only paying interest and not reducing the principal. Furthermore, I think I have paid enough interest to pay the loan off twice. Funny, but true. Any information you may have would be appreciated. Thank you.

Be VERY CAREFUL setting up ANY sort of plan with Ace. In accordance with my state's very explicit and specific laws around PDLs, I was granted a 7 day extension in which to set up an appointment with a Credit Counselor.
