Hot off the Associated Press. The Legislatures are going to meet to try and bring back PAYDAY LOANS in the state of Georgia. According to the legislatureState Rep. Al Williams of Midway the chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus he will be supporting to unban payday loans . People are traveling over the state line into Tenn and Fl. to obtain loans or of course doing it over the internet. I urge anybody who lives in Georgia to write to your legislature and ask to keep the ban in enforcement. This is not good. I hate to see these people becomiong legal again in any state. KYSIDE38

Anyone ever deal with Universal Lenders Inc? If you haven't then don't! If you have had any experience with them please let me know, are the allowed to use ethnic slurs when calling consumers regarding their debt?

Hi, First off, thank you so much for reviewing my story. I'm going through a seperation/divorce (not by my wishes). I'm in a situation where my debt to income ratio is keeping me from being pre qualified for a home mortgage. What I'm looking to do is consolidate the 5 or 6 accounts I have into a lower monthly payment to help me get a house. The house I'm in is in my ex spouses name and is up for sale for us to split the proceeds.

I just returned a call from academy services about an outstanding debt. It is mine, no two ways about it...long story. Anyway they say I owe 5233 with interest still accuring. Is it possible that Home Depot is still charging interest after a year of no payments? She offered to settle for 3700, the best of my records this was my last good balance before I couldnt make any more payments. And incidently the difference is "1600" the past due amount. Or a 70% settlement over whole debt.

I have multiple issues - a chapter 13 from 7.75 years ago that keeps surfacing. I just had a judgement awarded against me for ~$7000 in which I cannot possibly pay. They are threatening to come in and take goods, garnish etc. I attempted to pay on it but they kept hanging up on me. To further complicate a business dealing has started out rough with ~3 vendors filing suit. Dates are coming up, if they come in and take property I cannot make a business happen, feed my kids, etc.

Can a collection agency attach wages over $600 in medical/dental bills? I wouldn't think they would, but maybe she is just trying to scare me.

Late last year (Nov 06) I received a letter from Allied stating I owed money to AT&T & that they were willing to settle for 1/2 the amount. I called the number to find out what this was about. I had a cell phone in 1996-97 w/ ATT. Upon speaking with them, I told them that I was not aware I still owed money to them & was a bit confused. Honestly, I have NO idea if this debt had been paid. I don't see why I wouldn't have as i paid off ALL the other debts from that terrible time in my life. Anyway, I received several more calls from them in the past few weeks & I finally decided to answer.

Unfortunately I have two maxed out credit card, two macy's cards and a zales card. I'm tired of making huge payments on each and everyone on top of making my cell, rent and car payments. :? It's really hard and I hope to pay them off very soon! I have been married for 2 years and would love a house and a big family but that doesn't look like it's going to happen until the debt disappears :( Can someone help?
