Hi whew thank goddess for google. I also got a call from this "firm" he left a message saying his name was (get this) Mr.Bignut. I am not joking, he also called my mother and threatened to take me to court. The name and the time of the day (7am) sent up red flags, also my call display read "LAw Firm" as the name- these are teh signs of a scam! I'm taking it to a lawyer and credit counsellor. When I find out either way I'll post to the group. THIS GROUP MAY HAVE SAVED ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS!!!!

Hello. I just receiveda letter from asset acceptance llc for a balance past due from Providian for $1346.50. However, I have a Transunion copy of credit report from 1/22/05 stating that the Providian account had been paid off in 10/2001. A copy of my credit report (again, just transunion, though I have copies of all three) on 03/01/2006 shows NOTHING on Providian. Now, AA LLC is trying to say that I still owe Providian? As we all know, they are lying. My question is, I live in Montana.

I checked my credit report which has no record of the debt AI claims to have. I use to have bad debt/credit about 10 years ago. I'm almost certain the SOL has expired.I want to send them a C&D letter as well as validating this debt that I supposedly owe. Does anyone have any ideas on how to write one?

I am not sure what can be done about this situation. We recently moved from NJ to Las Vegas, but we took our VOIP NJ Area Code phone number with us (so Mom could still call without long distance charges). This morning I woke up to the sound of the phone ringing at just after 6am. It was HSBC calling about a payment that I mailed on Monday, but had not yet been received by them and was due yesterday. This is the second time that HSBC has called early in the morning.
