Wage garnishment - federal Consumer Credit Protection Act

20 years 1 month ago
A creditor does Wage garnishments as per the laws laid down in the Federal Consumer Credit Protection Act (CCPA). It allows garnishment to a maximum of 25% of employee's net earnings. The provisions of the CCPA are supervised and applied by the Department of Labor, Employment Standards Administration, Washington, DC. If you have legal reasons to contest a wage garnishment, please call at their office at (202) 219-8743. U.S. Department of Labor - Bureau of Labor Statistics Good luck.

CA forcing me to make larger payments.

20 years 1 month ago
I have a past debt of about $400 that has not received any payment since quite a lot of time. Now, the company is calling me up and threatening of filing a suit if I don't pay them at their mentioned date. My financial situation is not allowing me to pay that amount within the deadline put by them. They have made my condition worse by adding that they will not accept partial payments at any cost. Someone told me that if I pay $100, they will not file any case against me. I have come into this forum for your advice so that I do make this situation worse.

Asset Acceptance LLC yet again!

20 years 1 month ago
Hi I just got a letter from the infamous Asset Acceptance. It is for an account that was charged off back in 1992. Thankfully I do have a copy of an Experian CR from 1998 that shows the DOLA from 1992 (MAN am I glad I kept that report!). My question is, should I simply send them a validation letter, or should I go ahead and let them know that this debt is out of statute, I have proof, etc. So far, they haven't posted this account to my CR.

Don’t lie to your mother!!!

DON'T LIE TO YOUR MOTHER Mrs Jenkins comes to visit her son Anthony for dinner, who lives with a female roommate Belinda. During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how pretty Anthony's roommate was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between the two, and this had only made her more curious. Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between them than met the eye.

Midland Credit Management re-appeared in the credit reprt

20 years 1 month ago
I had a deliquent account with Associates national bank. As of June 2005 it was 7 years old and dropped off my credit report. The next month, midland credit management popped up. Associates had sold the acct to Midland after it was already 7 years old. I started an investigation via equifax which yielded no results. It was stated that I never "closed" the acct so it didn't matter how old it was. If that is ture, why did the Associates acct drop off my credit report.

Opting for a second mortgage to pay the debt faster

20 years 1 month ago
I am already working in a debt management program and paying a part of our debt through them. I have got this feeling that the program is taking too long to complete and I wish to complete it faster. For this reason, I am planning to get a second mortgage on my home. Will it be a beneficial move or should I stick to the existing plan.
