Threatening Email

13 years 2 months ago
Can you advise me of my options? Please see below. Thanks! Terry W. I do not recall the outstanding balance, nor do I recall phone calls and emails from you. If you will, send me proof of what was allegedly borrowed and any payments made. And I'll take a look at this. Also, don't threaten me with a lawsuit; you can't garnish my wages, and even if I did lose a lawsuit, you can't touch my property, harass me, or have me arrested. Again, send me proof via US Mail, and we'll go from there. Otherwise, don't contact me via email or phone again.

Interest Rates

13 years 2 months ago
I have been using FIA Card Services since 1994. I never missed or was ever late on a payment yet the interest charge on my account was 18.9%. When I asked for a lower rate, the agent got snotty with me. I transferred my balance to the local credit union at 7.6% APR and asked FIA to close my account. Even though I made this request in writing and paid the account off in full, they took the balance to zero and did not close the account. I called and requested that the account be closed and was told that it would be taken care of. We'll see.

Stand your ground?

So now the flood gates have opened and I'm going to internal collections on every single PDL that I sent the ACH revocation letters to. The calls have started as well....from all the illegal lenders. I need a little help with this one. Oh, they owe me $655 for a refund as I overpaid. This is how the lady at Plain Green responded after I told her they weren't legal in Texas...: You may have been sitting in your state but you went online to my state for the loan and the burden of due diligence falls on your shoulders.

Furnace repair company gone amuck

13 years 2 months ago
I hired a furnace company to repair a gasket in a hot water tank, which they did for $500. A few days later it was leaking again. They came back and did the same repair without following standard trouble-shooting methodology, which would call for them to try to determine why the first repair failed immediately. The 2nd repair failed immediately. I thought about it for a bit, and decided that excessive water pressure could cause the problem. Checked with the water company. Sure enough, pressure was very high in my area. Got a plumber in, found the pressure regulator valve had failed.
