Debt settlement/debt management plan/ or do it myself

13 years 2 months ago
Hi All- I've been a lurker on this board for awhile. I actually just recently got in touch with credit couseling services regarding a possible DMP. It turns out that they could have me debt free by 2013, however, the payment was outrageous. I think it was actually more than what I pay in a months time to my debts. There was no way I could afford it. So that leaves me wondering- what's left?

Can't Afford Debt Management Plan

13 years 2 months ago
I have been in a dmp for 8 months. My payments actually went up by 200.00/month in the plan. I have been making payments, but I can't keep up with it any longer - struggling to make the payment and falling behind, borrowing money from EVERYONE. credit counseling service says that the payment can not be lowered - CC companies base plan on balances. Can anyone give any suggestions? I feel like my only option is to quit the program and quit paying, but that will lead to default...

Debt Management Plan Not Working Need Advise

13 years 2 months ago
I enrolled in a dmp last February. I have free housing at present so I have been paying almost all of my paycheck to the dmp. (I owe about $9000) At the current rate I will be in this plan for 2 more years. I need to move out into myu own place, but can't afford it. Is debt settlement an option for me? Or would I just have to walk away from my debts. I can get some low interest loan from a relative. The dmp company (CCCS) have not been very helpful in lowering my interest rates. Most I am paying 15.99%. One is at 23.99?

s a Debt Management Plan the best option?

13 years 2 months ago
Hello all.... I am currently in a debt management plan where they deduct a specific amount of money from my account every month and pay my credit cards. I have been with this company for more than a year and it seems as if my balances are not going down a whole lot. I had thought that by getting into a debt management plan, your credit score would increase. Mine is actually going down! I'd like to try to work out something with my creditors myself and get out of the debt management program completely. I do not feel as if they are really helping me.

Debt Management Plan or call to get lower APR's myself?

13 years 2 months ago
I really need to start getting serious about paying off my debt. I have around 38k, most of which is with B.O.A., Chase, and Discover. My APR's range from 14% - 19%. I have never missed a payment in my life and have decent credit scores (high 600's - low 700's), which I would like to avoid ruining. I try to pay a little more than my minimum payments, but it is a struggle. I am barely squeaking by every month. I have looked into Care One and their debt management plan. They have an A+ rating with the BBB and I've heard really good things about them.

Score took a nosedive

13 years 2 months ago
The mortgage for my new home was going to be finally approved tomorrow but the lender called a couple of hours back and informed me that my rates have gone up and my application is under review. He told me that it is because my credit score didn't look very good upon final review. I checked my score and saw that its has gone down by 280 points. I compared copies and there are absolutely no changes on my report. I'm not really sure what I need to do now. Is it possible? Score tanking overnight?

Sued for dental work

13 years 2 months ago
I am being sued for dental work that I refused to finish paying after I complained about the bridge I was given. As a result, I have received a letter at my doorstep "Summons" to be in court in Mid May. My question is will they serve me at work too? I was not at home but did receive the paperwork from Justice Court where the attorney for the dentist filed it. I have NOT contacted anyone about this. I don't want to be served at work over 2000 dollars! Any ideas? Thank You
