Can a dunning letter from a CA come via e-mail or does it have to be on a printed piece of paper that comes via USPS? I am just wondering since I received an email from Frontier Financial Group stating I owed a debt and I had like 10 days to request a detailed explanation for this debt. If I don't send them a DV request and I have to go to court, can I state that I never received a dunning letter and that is why I never asked for debt verification?

I received a call straight to voicemail from National Action Financial Services asking them to contact them regarding outstanding debt. I spoke to a representative who claimed it was debt from Columbia House - BMG Capital Management from Oct 2008, but that they were out of business now so I could not contact them to get any written information. I have never done business with the aforementioned company. Is it not convenient that they are out of business? The representative asked me to verify my address to identify myself. Pause in the call for 20 seconds.

I received a call from someone claiming to be with Allied Interstate. They said they were collecting on a 22 year old bill. They couldn't tell me exactly what the company was that the debt was originally incurred with. I don't believe this debt ever existed, but it was a very long time ago. Is the statute of limitations expired? What can I do to protect myself so this isn't reported onto my credit?
