My account has gone to 3rd party collections, I called the original creditor and they verified that is with then. I just made a settlement offer of 30% if they accept should I still validate the debt? Also what does the settlement letter need to say should it be from original creditor to?

Help? I have a court date in 2days (jury trial) thought I had a lawyer who worked out a good deal for me, but could not come up with all the money in the 2 days they gave me. My lawyer was not able to practice in my county. I live in Illinois. He filed the federal suit against them, but now I am left with no representation on the state level. Can I extend the court date due to me not having a lawyer anymore? Should I try to work out a deal with these crooks? Just some guidance, or what I should expect at my court date would help. Thanks in advance.:confused:

Allied Interstate called me today regarding a $300 store-front PDL I took out in Oct '01 in California. I moved to Ohio in 2005. My check I had written to Advance America bounced (per the rep I talked to at corp hq of AA), then they sold the debt to Paragon Way in Aug '06 for $275. Now AI has it. They must have gotten my cell # because I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy last month, and that's public record. The SOL I need to worry about, is the one in the state I now reside in, right?

We all know these bottomfeeders claim to part of Native American reservations and therefore claim to be immune to state laws. Just wondering how the heck the AG of West Virginia got these IPDLs to settle? Maybe we can get advice from WV to help our own state AGs (I live in IL).

So I received papers from the courts where i live for a credit card that i had 4 years ago. I am supposed to go to court in July this year. I do owe this debt. I dont even know how much it is for. I have tried to call the company several times and have had no response. i am only 22 and i got this card when i was 18. The last i heard about it was 2 or more years ago and they said I owed 890 something. I am guessing it is from interest. Anyway my point is I am being sued and I dont know what to do. Never been to court. Never had even a traffic ticket. Need some advice.

After a long, long crawl I'm almost out of payday loan hell. I have one remaining loan to pay off with Check 'n Go and they've been great (or as great as a lender can be when you're paying 1000% interest). Today, however, I got a call from a number I was able to trace to Phoenix Debt Management. These are the people who leave threatening messages that say things like:

• "Please contact me before 5 p.m.

I used Mann Brackens website for payments made in November and December only to find out my payments never came out of my bank account. I contacted the court and they informed me Mann Bracken had gone out of business. This was a settlement made in court. What am I supposed to do to protect myself? Who do I contact and how will I get this off my credit?? Thanks in advance!!
