On Wednesday I was served papers for a repo. They gave me 15 days. I recently lost my job and I'm now making about half of what I was 6 months ago. I'm3 months behind on my payments and even if I could pay the past due balance, I would be in the same position in another 3 months. I can't afford the car. If I voluntarily give the car back it will save me the cost of the repo man. They say they will auction the car off and I will have to pay the remainingbalance on the loan. However, I've been hearing that they sell at auctions for really low prices.

About a month ago I got tired of the illegal (I'm in FL) PDL trap and found some useful info here. For over a week I placed a freeze on my Wachovia bank account (nice bank manager put a "Fraud" hold on it) and once all my bases were covered and I emailed/faxed out the ACH revocation letters, I closed the account. Although I sent the letters to the PDL companies, I didn't follow through with the CC'ing of them to the BBB, FTC & FL Atty General. I just got a response from one of the PDL companies and wanted some clarification/advice on what to do.

This is incredibly depressing. I got in trouble with some payday loans a few months ago, and I just can't break the cycle. I have a lot now, all with small amounts, a lot of them I have paid over the amount of the loan. I just don't know what to do, and don't want to close my bank account. I have received numerous calls from a guy calling himself Mr. Porter and he gave me the name of 2 payday loan companies that I owe money to and he said that they were collecting the debt for them and If I didn't send them 4 payments of 300 dollars biweekly they would have a warrant out for me. I was then tranferred to a lawyer named Ms. Robinson who was very rude to me and would not work with me at all. I told her I didn't have 300 to send and then she informed me that they would begin processing my file in the state where I live. I needless to say have been a nervous wreck ever since.

I was contacted by a collection agency about a debt. They have the last payment in 2001. I don't believe the amount they are seeking is correct. I have asked for a debt validation letter. What do I do after I receive the letter? Since the last payment was 2001, can I just send send them a letter stating that it is passed the SOL? Thanks.

This process server just called my number (from a restricted line) and wanted to speak to my husband. When I told him that my husband wasn't here, he said he wanted to know when he would be available and what a good time would be to come and serve him this afternoon with some papers...and a witness needs to be around. He said if I call this 877 number to contact the people that hired him, then I could cease the serving. He said the papers are in a sealed envelope and he had no idea what they were about. Any suggestions?

I am recieving calls at work from Ray Morrison of SRS and Associates. I have done the research on this company and they seem to be quite nasty to work with. He stated on the last message that my payoff amount would continue to escalate if I do not take care of this. Is that even legal? I live in North Carolina and believe that I am only responsible for the principle balance of the debt. Funny thing is they will not even tell me who their client is. I have several outstanding payday loans, many of which I have overpaid. Shouldn't they provide this information?

Just received a letter from eds stating they would no longer be able to represent me because they are no longer in the debt settlement business. Ive paid a year of fees shouldnt i get a refund?

Question, i faxed over a dv letter to lvnv on 10/29 to validate a debt they have listed on my report. I received a return fax today stating my account is "closed" and they will notify the CB to remove it from my reports, and they "apologized" for any inconvenience they caused me (picture that)..... something just feels uneasy about this. is the process that simple for them to go away with their bogus claims? i don;t know if i should send a followup letter or what... i just dont want to pull my report in a month or two and find them there again under a didderent name.... any suggestions???

Does anyone have any feedback for First Choice Debt Relief? I???m nervous because they quoted a low settlement figure and said their office was in Orange, California but their website is a POB in San Francisco, which didn???t make sense.
