When you are offered a payoff amount, should you accept?(only when in writting, of course!) Does it show up on your credit report that you took a payoff amount? Does that reflect negatively on your credit report? Thanks! --K from New York

Hello all! After being unemployed for over a year (and still unemployed) I recently came into some money that could help repair my credit. Where should I begin? I've kept very good track of all of the accounts that I owe (inclding amounts). I know some of it has been charged off, some have not. Some accounts are in good standing. How do I begin repairing my credit? Should I start by paying off smaller accounts/amounts owed? For the accounts that are charged off, is there anyway to restablish those accounts?

I wonder, how all this happened to me. I'm the only daughter of my parents. Dad is a physician, used to be busy all the day. My mom was an entrepreneur. We never had any monetary trouble. However, life shows different colors at different times and that's a very hard truth. I graduated in the year 2004. I was planning to study and research on AI. But Man proposes God disposes, so goes the saying. My parents got separated suddenly. Mom used to stay at home most of the time thereafter. I noticed some unusual behavior in her. Finally she needed counseling.

Can anybody tell me what this means? "The following item is suppressed pending credit grantor update." This was an item that I knew nothing about and was getting ready to dispute....help! :) ~Mary

Hello I heard alot about T&C so I contacted them. I couldn't find anything about them anywhere except on here, I'm not sure I'm going with them for debt help, due to a few questions. Can anyone that has worked with them answer this. Do they have a toll free# to contact them for help once acct is set up? Do you have to pay every week? and are the payments made online or do you have to send in a money order each week?

My story about debt… It began sometime ago…and sadly all of it came crashing down on me during the fall of last year. It is amazing how fast time goes by and how fast everything else creates a domino effect. After realizing what had really happened and what I am facing now it is just unreal. Let's start from the beginning… My husband and I used to make a lot of money, but spent is foolishly, boy did we have a good time though. Took trips, spent extreme amounts of money and nothing to show for it; except bills. Young and stupid was what it was.

I knew that Creditors have better memories than debtors (lent from Benjamin Franklin as I'm a debtor, lol), but what I didn't know is that collectors have very poor memory. They just forget what I said them just a minute back. This is not a good sign. You should consult doctors dear, I really feel worried for you and I mean it. Your poor memory was enough to ruin my credit; it's me who held the wheel at the right time. I must say that I found some people who helped me a lot through out my struggle. And I should not forget about those friends who I haven't met yet.

A friend of mine is suffering the effects of identity theft. Her son's girlfriend stole her ssn and has been opening accounts, cell phones, even utilities in my friend's name. She's being swamped by companies taking ACH debits from her account and leaving her strapped for cash between paydays, and she has even had to delay paying her own utilities because of this. I advised her to check out this forum, which she says she'll do, but since she has no computer at home, I thought I'd ask too. I told her to file a police report about this, change her SSN and her bank.
