I had taken out a payday loan from ACE in Dec. of 2008. I paid it back in cash in January of 2009. I attempted to go into the office where I took the loan to pay it back, but the office had a post it note saying they were closed. So I had the cash and was attempting to find another office. They put the check through my bank and it came back ins. funds. Kicker is I had the cash, that is why it was declined. Anyway, I just got 3 threatening phone calls.

I got a very disturbing call at work this morning. Someone called and asked for me, he had the last four of my social and said that there is a lawsuit against me and he needs to know my lawyers information. I said I do not have a lawyer and do not know what this is regarding. He got really nasty and said call this number 408-465-5240 and find out who is suing you and for what. He said read the number back to me and I didnt-I just hung up. He called back and said "did you just hang up in my face" I said never call me at work again. He said get your supervisor on the phone now!

I had taken out a payday loan, repaid it...then realized I had 3 others that I did not know about. they state that the first one I signed "Gave" Them permission to loan to me...The bank now has my account held up, my last 2 payroll deposits are sitting there and I can't get the money. I was told my account was being closed due to NSF on 10/21 and that on 11/1 I would get a check for my money. It's now 11/8 and my money is still sitting at the bank. I cannot get them to drop the 10 nsf fees from the Illegal payday loans?

My wages have been garnished for over a year now. On average, they are garnishing about $310 a month. I owe over $19k. I have looked into getting my garnishment removed, but iirc the CA I spoke with said that I would need to make payments of $200 for a year straight, in addition to being garnished, to remove default status. Upon hearing that, I was disheartened, and never looked back. Is this normal, or are there other options available for my situation?

I have been paying on my deceased mothers property for almost 3 years, the mortgage/loan is still in her name and my stepfathers name.Just in care of me, and i pay it with the agreement my stepfather signed over the deed to his rights to the house to my mothers children (3 brothers and me). My mother passed away without a will, in NJ her house was legally half mine and my siblings and half my step fathers. We took over the loan to get his rights, The original deed was still in my mother and fathers name when she died (my stepfather was not).

I pulled my credit report and notice Fifth Third Bank is listed with a Charge Off in 2008. How do I find out who has this account so I can set up a settlement?

Okay, Asset Acceptance just contacted me for a 21 year old debt that wasn't right in the first place (Bally's Total Fitness continuing to charge me, despite a contract that allowed me to cancel when I moved more than 25 miles from a facility--A 2 year deployment to the Gulf before/during/after Desert Storm sure fits!) I've responded with written notification that I dispute the validity of the charge, that it's past the Statute of Limitations, and that they are only to contact me in writing. This type of scam deserves more, though. What are my options?

hello everyone... new to the forum and just looking for advice. It's been a really rough year for me, and I have now found myself in the online payday loan cycle. I feel as if i have no control and see no end. So i've been reading up on a few topics here. Right now I have already put a freeze on my account and stopped my DD. My bank told me to come back to the branch with my paycheck. they will then being my account to a zero balance and close it. I do have ever intention in paying back my loans, however it will take some time to get above water.
