This morning, I scheduled my final payment to pay off my student loan debt to the Department of Education. After it goes through, then just one more automatic debit on the 15th of May, and I will have zero debt.

I checked my free government credit report and nothing was on there. I don't use credit cards, just a debit card. I checked the county clerk and no judgments against me. It's weird because I've had this phone number for 9 years. Should I be scared of anything?

Hey I was going over my credit report, getting ready for a new round of DVs...I notice that all medical collections have a MED1 in front of it...I know that is supposed to be what ppl see if they look at your credit report, if you look at it yourself, you see MED1 with whatever the name of the Dr/Hospital is. Now I noticed one particular collection company that did NOT put this MED1 in front of the name....so I am thinking that they are in violation since the medical information is supposed to be private. Okay, so I've had a cap one acct in various collections for quite a while now, not really able to get anywhere with it. first was URS, Now its with LRO Legal Recovery Law Offices. This is the last acct I have to settle after breaking my back and falling way behind last year. I talked to LRO today and they said they want to settle the acct with me before taking legal actions, they gave me 80 cents on the dollar and after saying I couldn't do it they said they could break it up into three payments over three months, told them I still couldn't do it.

I'm currently trying to settle a debt with Legal Recovery (LR) and I was wondering if there is a way to find out whether I'm being sued. I did some research about LR and its seems like the company is well known for not letting you know that you are being sued by them. I just found out that LR is managing my account and I just yesterday sent them an offer by e-mail to settle my debt but I'm little worried that they already sent me a summon/letter thats says that I'm being sued.(sorry, I don't know the correct legal term).

I just received a card worth $50 from Capital One saying that all I need to do is call them to discuss options they have for me. If I call, I can use this money for anything. My account is 138 days past due. Is this normal procedure for them and do other cards do this?

has anyone else received calls from an inspector Rouse from phone number 800-557-0982? he called my parents home and left me message to call him. He didnt say who he was, just that it had to do with a FNA case file, but when I searched the phone number, company called Federal Asses Solutions came up. also, how long have some of you had these so-called agencies calling you? I am getting so tired of them and I am now having to change my work number because of so many calls.

We got a call from my husband's brother last night. A collection company has been calling him and harassing him and has basically convinced him that my husband used his info for a loan. Not only is this not true but we have not spoken to his brother in close to 8 years. We live in PA he lives in NC. WE don't have is address or any of his financial info. The creditor will not identify themselves or the company they are calling on behalf of. When he tried to return their call he gets a fast busy. We told him to give the company our home number and insist they stop calling him.

I received a call from an unknown number. It was a woman saying she worked for a location service and had papers to serve me. She said that first the company wanted to work out a settlement and that I should call 888-261-2975. That should be in touch with the company and afterwards they could fax her a release. When I asked what the company was, she said she spilled coffee on her papers and couldn't read the name. Anyway, I searched the number and found very little about it other than it was called Xerox Management.
