I was contacted at work by a man who said he was with the Internet Fraud Division of United Legal Services. He referenced an old pay day loan I had defaulted on years ago. He told me I was being charged with fraud and if I didn't send $550 by 3 PM, I would be picked up at my work place and taken to jail. Later that afternoon, I was summoned to the front lobby. When I got there, to my surprise, 2 police officers handcuffed me, read me my rights, and said I was being arrested for theft by fraud. Bail was $5,000 and I couldn't afford it, so I had to stay in jail.

I have CA that I want to do a settlement this week. Currently they are not reporting the $$ amount to my credit history however this account was with another CA prior this CA since I didn’t pay them the first time they sold it to this new CA that I want to do a settlement now. Now the question is should I ask them “Pay to delete” since they are not reporting this to my credit history and when I do a settlement this week with them and then I should call the previous CA and tell them to take this collection out since they don’t hold this account anymore and its been taken care

I just received a letter stating that my debt with BofA is about to be "charged off". I owe $1,050 dollars to them.(I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but its one of many). i am on unemployment. Do you think they would accept an offer of 15%?Would they take installments? Are they less or more likely to settle for a smaller percentage if you have a smaller balance? Sorry for all the questions. Thank You

First, I posted a question here about a year ago and got great info and my load is back with the Dept. Of EDU. thanks. now for my question but im not sure where else to ask or look up info... A friend of mine had signed up for a class at a community college, but never attended the class because she found the same class at another campus (same college) that better fit her schedule. Anyway, she forgot to drop the first class and now the school says she has hold on her record and needs to pay for the class she never attended.

Ok I have had multiple loans with biggest-cash.com over the past year or so. My latest was for 400 dollars on 3/13/09 my debits have been this so far. 4/03 $120 4/17 $120 5/1 $120 5/15 $120 5/29 $120 and $50 ( they automatically started taking off the principal. 6/12 $105 and $50 6/26 $90 and $50 7/10 $75 and $50 7/27 $75 and $50 (overcharged me $15.) 8/7 $110.00 ? they did not break it out like before and it should have been by my records $45. and $50. So to date by their agreement I have been overcharged at least $30. However my question is how legitimate is this loan in Pennsylvania?

I owe Dyck O Neal (ca) 40k from a promissory note with the last short sale in florida (deficiency state). The short sale was negotiated by PMI and eventually passed on to the CA. After 5 months they want to offer only 50% (20k) and will not budge in inspite of repeated pleas and bargaining. Any experience dealing with this collection agency? Whats the difference dealing with settlement thru credit cards vs promissory note from a short sale?

New to this forum so please be kind :) I just received a package in the mail (one was also dropped off at my house to my wife who was frankly scared to death by some dude in gym shorts banging on the front door) that states "Summons" and that I must "answer the Complaint". Having read some of the other posts in other threads this looks like a case where someone skipped over all the typical collector calls and such and went straight to the courts? Just a guess. Anyway, I don't yet have enough information to know if the debt is valid or not.

Has anyone heard of PMR Law Group??? They left a voicemail on my cell one night saying there was a judgment waiting to be filed for a pay day loan that went delinquent. They even called my cousin (are they allowed to do that?!?!) Since I was scared, I called them back and agreed to make payments on the account. They faxed me back the schedule for the payment arrangement and then I got a letter in the mail with a different schedule. When I noticed that the two letters had different schedules, it was already too late!

I recently where issues papers from a ladt stating she was from the sherifs department. They appear to be legitimate court docs stating I am being sued. THis is almost 5 years old. I alive in PA. Does any one have any advice on what I can do with this. We have a 2 year old son and are doing our best to make ends meet and kep our currnet credit positive. I can not afford to pay them at this point. Your thoughts are appreciated. Charles

ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I SENT BIG A CERT LETTER STATING THAT THEIR ONLINE PDL WAS ILEGAL IN THE STATE OF OHIO, AND THAT I PAID THE PRINCIAL AMOUNT AND TO CONTACT ME VIA E-MAIL OR US MAIL. TODAY I RECEIVE A CALL FROM A VICTOR, HE WANTS TO WORK SOMETHING OUT, TOLD I 'LL CALL HIM BACK HOW SHOULD I PROCEED ??????
