Collection agecies for illegal pdls

16 years 9 months ago
You all have provided me with excellent advise in the past and now I am at the phase where I am beginning to receive collection agency notices. I am a KY resident and have 11 illegal pdl's (all internet). Today I received a notice from a collection agency for one of the pdls. If the internet pdl is illegal (because I am a KY resident) do the CA legal have the ability to collect from me? Does the validation letter stop their activity?

Consolidate Payday Loans Myself???

16 years 9 months ago
Is this possible? Has any one been able to successfully settle the payday loans without hiring a consolidating company? I just hate to pay more money than I have to....I have already drowned myself in interest ONLY payments and have been taking new loans out just to pay my normal bills.....it is madness!!! Any step by step applicable advice is much appreciated!

Question regarding PDL

16 years 9 months ago
I have an existing loan with My Cash Now (MCN). I had other loans and as a result was unable to continue paying the interest on my pdl's and still take care of my family and pay my household bills. Today I received a notice from a place called Professional Debt Mediation (3rd party collection agency for My Cash Now). Anyone ever dealt with them? I thought that Credit DePot handled collections for My Cash Now. Can I get a copy of a DV letter to send them?

How can I consolidate payday loans myself???

16 years 9 months ago
Hello, I am calling around and trying to determine if I should hire on a third party PDL Consolidation company. If I do then there is even more fees that I have to pay to a company and I have paid way more than I should have already in on the payday loans. Has anyone out there settled the loans by themselves? Thanks, Kat

I settled BofA today

16 years 9 months ago
I know I like to read success stories when available, particularly with the same creditors that I am working with. So here is one to share with others... BofA settled today for 25%, payable over 3 months. I'm actually kind of kicking myself, as I think I could have gotten them lower, but at the same time, good to get this one behind me. It was my largest balance. Anyway, this one came out of the blue a bit. I haven't been speaking to BofA as frequently as other creditors.

PDL Law...which state takes presidence?

16 years 9 months ago
Okay, all over this site, we are told that the PDL lender must abide by the rules of the state that the borrower lives...where exactly is that info. What law is that? My AG Office was very unhelpful. One of the attorneys there said that the PDL lenders have done nothing wrong by making me keep renewing my loan and nothing pays down the principal, especially if the contract stated so. So what code, law, etc. states that the borrower's state is the law that must be followed for a PDl lender? She said that I must follow the law of the state that the PDl comapny is located/licensed.

A question re: "Delaware Law"

16 years 9 months ago
Okay, so things are going along reasonably well... Magnum Cash settled quickly on the principal only :D , my "legal" ipdl sent a "send what you can, when you can" letter  , a couple of others are ignoring me completely (fine by me), and one is ignoring my e-mails but is leaving a voicemail every day (filed the complaints because of that). Now for the problem child: Eastside Lenders. I thought that they would be working to settle, by the tone of their first e-mail.

Judgement

16 years 9 months ago
I haven't gone to court yet, but want to prepare myself...I reached out for an attorney who stated she could represent me for $1500 or $500 a month, but I'm worried if I lose...I'll be paying $500 a month to her PLUS the amount I have to pay for my judgement. I'm being sued for 9999.99, I make about 1800 a month...how much would a judge make me pay a month normally, what percentage of my paycheck?
