Got a call today from 877-354-8148 and the message told me to call AMEX back today (stupid me erased the message). But doing a google search tells me that the number belongs to Nationwide Credit Isn't it illegal for collection agencies to pretend to be OC's?

Hi Has anyone dealt with firm? The CC sold the debt Collect America in which they are using Pezzuto Law Firm in AZ. My dilema is that i got a call today from this lawfirm at work in reference to this debt. The law firm did not indenfied themselves other than Joe Pezzuto law firm. I the person please give me phone number to call him back. His rude reply when and how long i will call back? He refused once again to give his phone number. Then he stated that i am refusing to pay my debt. He will be sueing me and garnishing my wages. A few minutes later a person from Pezzuto law called me.

After my early victory this morning with another pdl company, I received this response from MTE Financial Services (they're starting to sound a little bitter--patrons of this site must be fighting back) Quote:

Well, I didnt get any letter last week, so he told me he would send out a duplicate. The "duplicate" came, and contained no disclosure of consumer rights, etc etc etc, it was basically just a demand for payment. So, I call him back and inform him that we dispute the debt, and that the last two CA's that had this same debt gave it up because they could not provide proper legal validation.
