What is the statute of limitations for Massachusetts?

20 years 1 month ago
I have been a resident of Florida for 9 years. My credit card debt originated in Massachusetts and subsequently some of it incurred in Florida. What is the statute of limitations for Massachusetts and can they go after any of the original debt. Florida is 5 years but what about Mass?

Will New Bankruptcy Law make it more difficult for people in debt to make deals with their creditors?

20 years 1 month ago
Will this new law, The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, that congress is about to pass make it more difficult for people in debt to make deals with their creditors? If people are unable to file for bankruptcy, it seems that the credit card companies would be less willing to work out a compromise. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff

How to prevent CA from viewing my credit report?

20 years 1 month ago
Hey everyone. I recently called a collection agency to get information on the pay off of my debt. How much I owed, account number and all that. This was before I ran my credit report. Now that I have ran the credit report I never autorized them to view my credit report and they are showing up in the inquiries. Is there a way to fight this and to get them off of it? Thanks, ~Breezi

ouch! Major credit report difference

20 years 1 month ago
HI! In looking at the credit report that I pulled recently, I notice that a debt that I got in Dec 99 has went from being a 2477.00 debt to a 4691 debt.... BUT that is not on all the reports... so I'm confused. On TransUnion it shows that I now owe 4691.00 On Equifax it shows that I now owe 4691.00 On Experian it shows that I now owe 2478.00 So.... what do I do?? I would hate to tackle the 4691.00 since there is such a difference but it's clear that someone isn't talking with someone here..... :( :? Thanks for your thoughts. ~Breezi

Any suggestions on places where I could check out new cars?

20 years 1 month ago
Hello everyone! A few years ago a car that I had purchased, through special financing at a 23% interest rate, was smashed to bits by some dumb kids who stole a car to take a joy ride. Luckly I wasn't in it but anyway, the cops never found them so the car was a complete total loss and I had to pay 2,000 to pay off the rest of the loan. Well me having some nice parents felt sorry for me because I lived 3 states away and I had no transportation and no money to get a new car with. They got me a new car in their names and after I year I was to refinance it in my name.

questions questions

20 years 1 month ago
Hello everyone! Got a question that is maybe on some other people's minds too. I pulled my credit report the other day and eww. But anyway :) Lets get past the gorey stuff. My question is, when I was 18 I was dating a guy and he talked me into putting my name on his credit cards so that I could use them. Well on my credit report there are these cards of his like "Citibank" and they show it as a charge off. It says the date it was opened was 10/91. If I was born in 78 then that means that I would have been what like 13???

Statute of Limitations

20 years 1 month ago
Hi, I am new to your forum and have a question regarding jurisdiction pertaining to the SOL. Some of my unpaid debts were originated in Indiana but I have been a Florida resident for over 5 years. The collection agencies try to collect from me in Florida. Which states' SOL applies? Indiana allows a 10 year SOL, but Florida is only 4-6 years. This is a big difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Liz
