My debt was bought by a collections agency. When i recieved a letter from the CA I was able to pay in full. Now 4 months has gone by and my Credit Report is still showing a balance of the full amount, not the amount that I paid to the CA. The "remarks" section of the CR states that the debt was "purchased by another lender", im assuming this was the CA who purchased my debt. I know i screwed up by letting it go to collections, but how do I approach this situation and who should i contact about clearing this up? Thank you for your time.

She never replied and I cant get hold of her through there so I posted here since I know she is active here. I took the plunge 90 days ago to try and settle my debts. I understand not to mention settlement too early but does it help to say anything to the CC companies about considering bankruptcy? Does that help with a settlement offer? Thank you for any advice and I apprecaite all the insight here. This has been the worst time of my life and I can't wait to get this over so I can move on.
